Mike Penick- is one of the South's outstanding players. By vocation a prominent Dallas attorney, his first love is bridge. He is a member of the American Contract Bridge League and a Life Master many times over. His partners include past world champions, with numerous tournament victories in Europe, as well as in the United States. He was selected to represent the United States in the World Open Paris Championship in 1994.
Jude Goodwin – the talented cartoonist who has brightened our world with the drawings in Beginning Bridge Complete, is a freelance Canadian artist. Her amusing book of bridge cartoons, Table Talk, was published by Devyn Press.
“from teaching the rank of the suits to a sensible glossary of terms, here is a basic bridge book for beginners that is complete yet streamlined, solid but thoroughly understandable. It moves in a quick but orderly progression and is highlighted with 29 or 30 Jude Goodwin cartoons that leave the student with a smile but a better understanding of counting points, keeping score, the auction, etc.
The bridge is sound. It is suitable for self-teaching or for classroom use and includes a self-teaching quiz at the end of each chapter.
I am delighted to add my recommendation. It I should retire and go back to teaching classes at my Bridge Studio in Texas, I certainly would take this book along as a first-class helper.”
